1.0 Introduction This chapter provides the background and the setting required to put the research problem in proper context 1.1 Background of the study History In African traditional society sexual immorality was rare. This is because, one committing adultery, engaging in nay kind of immorality was heavily punished Traditionally, the Bakiga and the Banyarwanda a lady playing sex and becoming pregnant before marriage was taken to the forest to be eaten by wild animals and storing her to death Though boys in adolescents engaging in sex before marriage were given punishments they were simple and easy compared to those given to ladies. They were given simple punishments like clearing bushes round houses unlike ladies that were taken to forests to eaten by wild animals In Africa societies 1 ike Baganda, BanyankOole,Bakiga among other were educated on sexual issues on how to handle themselves in plying sex after being married, how to become responsible fathers and mothers, how to raise their children. This was done differently because ladies like elder aunts and close relatives use to educate the ladies or girls and boys were educated by elder uncles plus other female elder close relatives. This is the one that was and is known as traditional sex education
